Planning & Practicalities

Opening hours, holidays, the crowd calendar and the money. Czechia uses the koruna, not the euro, and that catches people out at the worst moment.

This is the section that stops a few days going wrong, and in Prague it starts with money.

Czechia uses the koruna, not the euro. Prices quoted in euros in the tourist centre are almost always worse than paying in koruna, and so is letting a card terminal convert for you — always choose to be charged in the local currency. Exchange booths in the old town are the single most reliable way to lose money here.

The second thing is the crowd calendar. The centre has a rhythm: the bridge and the clock are busiest late morning to early evening, and genuinely quiet early. Shifting your day an hour or two earlier changes the experience more than any choice of sight.

Articles here cover opening hours, public holidays, what closes when, and the money questions that have a right answer.

No articles are published in this section yet. We publish about two a week rather than filling a section in a day.

Nothing Found

It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.

About what you read here. Everything on Access Prague is general information and our own editorial opinion. We research carefully and we say when the evidence is unclear, but we can be wrong, things change, and no article can know your particular situation. Please do your own research and make your own judgement rather than treating anything here as the final word. Prices, products and specifications around the topics we cover change constantly, and what suits one person will not suit another. Check current details yourself, and where a decision involves real money, safety or something you cannot undo, it is worth confirming with a qualified professional before you act.
