Getting there
On Velkopřevorské náměstí in Malá Strana, a couple of minutes from the western end of Charles Bridge. Metro A to Malostranská.
If you only have an hour
Give it five minutes and use the other fifty-five on Kampa — the island just south of it, under the bridge, with the mill wheel and the park. It is a two-minute walk from the wall and it is one of the quietest corners in Malá Strana, which the crowd twenty metres away never discovers.
What people get wrong
Two things. First, nothing on it is original — the wall has been painted over continuously since the 1980s, and the layer you photograph is months old at most. Second, the size: it is one wall on a small square, so treat it as something you pass on the way to the bridge rather than a stop you build a route around.
